What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipyard Helper position at Venture Dynamics Enterprises, Inc.?
Job Summary:
Venture Dynamics is hiring Shipyard Helpers with experience in Fire Watch, Ship Cleaning, and Power Tooling aboard U.S. Navy vessels. We're looking for reliable, safety-conscious individuals ready to work in a fast-paced, high-security shipyard environment. Prior experience on Navy ships is strongly preferred.
General Responsibilities:
- Support trades performing repair and maintenance on Navy ships
- Maintain cleanliness of ship spaces including bilges, tanks, and compartments
- Assist in set-up and tear-down of work areas (hoses, cords, lights, ventilation, etc.)
- Follow all safety rules including PPE, confined space entry, and fire safety watch protocols
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Work in shipboard environments including dry docks, pierside, and onboard vessels
Minimum Requirements:
- 1 year of experience working in a shipyard or industrial setting
- Experience with Navy ships or military vessel work highly preferred
- Must be able to pass drug test and background check (DBIDS eligibility required)
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions
- Physically fit to lift/carry 50 lbs and be on your feet all day
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 10 Maritime
- Fire Watch Certification
- Experience with grinders, sanders, or needle guns
- Confined Space Attendant or Competent Person training
- DBIDS or ability to obtain Navy base access
