What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Sales position at Venture Guides?
VG SALES is the first venture-led, accelerated tech sales training program for diverse college graduates without prior experience who are pursuing a career in sales at one of Venture Guides' fastest growing tech startups.
The leadership role of VG SALES allows you a unique opportunity (1.) to hone your skills as a sales leader through the process of recruiting top talent, teaching and coaching entry level candidates to be successful SDRs, (2.) to work with more than 5 sales leaders running VG portfolio companies, across the office floor and see the benefits of working for a Venture Guides ’ portfolio company, (3.) gain a first look at each potentially new VG portfolio company Venture Guides evaluates to determine your level of interest and (4.) once hired by a portfolio company
- to use VG SALES as a platform to recruit and build your own SDR team as your final VG SALES class.
- 80 percent of Venture Guides companies in their previous track record have become successful businesses (compared to 10-20% of startups) and 40 percent have grown into multibillion dollar companies, compared to .05% industry average. People are the secret to the success behind these multibillion-dollar unicorns. Many of our current sales leaders in our newest portfolio startups began their lucrative careers excelling in former portfolio companies.

Requirements :
As VP or Director of VG SALES, you will be responsible for recruiting, screening and accepting candidates into our year round program, which includes among other efforts, nurturing existing and developing new relationships with local schools to create a predictable source of top candidates, teaching and training SDR candidates on hard and soft sales skills, inspiring and coaching hard work, constant improvement and a sense of urgency, meeting Monthly with the VG portfolio sales leaders to improve sales processes across all companies on our floor, and finally, recruiting a sales leader to fill in behind you, once you move into a portfolio company.
Success will be judged by how well you produce SDRs who are highly productive in finding SQLs, have strong metrics in building pipeline and generating dollars in revenue, who also have the understanding and ability to grow into AEs and eventually sales leaders, even though harder to quantify. As leader, you’ll need to be sure they keep accurate sales metrics and are able to evaluate themselves and you will need to be able to evaluate them accurately. Additional KPIs will include how many graduates get hired in competitive processes, how many churn over time, how quickly they can book meetings, number of calls they make, how well their new team values them, time to promotion, and time to closed deals as compared to other SDRs. We anticipate this will be a learning process so while you will be judged on the quality of SDRs you produce, you will also be judged on your ability to adapt, collaborate and work with transparency, performance and trust with the VG team and its VG Portfolio company sales leaders.
Job Qualifications :
Interest and experience in infrastructure software, Cyber Security or general SaaS software – is highly preferred.
