Marketing & Community Engagement Specialist

Venture House is a dynamic and growing non-profit dedicated to supporting adults with mental health conditions by fostering community, empowerment, and recovery. We provide access to employment, education, housing, and peer support, ensuring that every member finds a sense of belonging and purpose.
We recently launched our new Brooklyn Clubhouse, and this position plays a key role in expanding our presence, strengthening community partnerships, and enhancing our digital and social media engagement.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Marketing & Community Engagement Specialist who will be responsible for:
- Expanding outreach efforts to increase Venture House Brooklyn’s membership and strengthen community partnerships.
- Developing and executing marketing and digital content strategies that effectively tell our story and engage stakeholders.
- Managing social media and communications efforts to enhance our public presence and advocate for mental health awareness.
This is a hands-on role requires both in-person outreach and digital media expertise to position Venture House Brooklyn as a “Beacon of Brooklyn” in the mental health space while ensuring Venture House Staten Island continues to thrive, grow, and serve its community.
Key Responsibilities
Community Partnerships & Outreach
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with community organizations, hospitals, clinics, shelters, and other social service agencies to promote Venture House’s mission.
- Represent Venture House at community events, networking meetings, and coalition groups to strengthen partnerships and increase visibility
- Coordinate and facilitate outreach presentations—both virtually and in person—to educate organizations and prospective members about Venture House services.
- Organize site visits, tours, and open house events for partners and prospective members to experience Venture House firsthand.
Membership Growth & Referral Development
- Proactively engage with referral sources to ensure a steady stream of prospective members from hospitals, mental health providers, shelters, and community programs.
- Establish ongoing communication with partner organizations to maintain consistent referrals and encourage their clients to explore Venture House.
- Create outreach materials and referral guides to help community partners easily connect eligible individuals with Venture House services.
- Track and analyze referral trends, attendance rates, and outreach impact to ensure membership growth aligns with organizational goals.
Marketing, Communications & Social Media
- Create engaging social media content (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn) that aligns with our mission and drives community engagement.
- Utilize tools like Canva, CapCut, and Adobe Creative Suite (or similar) to design graphics and edit short videos for outreach campaigns.
- Manage email marketing campaigns and newsletters, ensuring clear, impactful messaging.
- Work with the Director of Development to optimize Venture House Brooklyn’s website content and storytelling.
- Track analytics and adjust strategies based on engagement data.
Qualifications & Skills
- Community Engagement Expertise – Experience in outreach, public relations, or partnership development to drive referrals and member recruitment.
- Presentation & Public Speaking Skills – Ability to confidently present to partner organizations, agencies, and community groups (both virtually and in person) to promote Venture House and engage potential members to diverse audiences.
- Relationship-Building – Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, referral sources, and prospective members to drive engagement.
- Strategic Marketing & Outreach – Experience creating and using targeted marketing strategies and campaigns that align with organizational goals and increase visibility.
- Social Media & Digital Engagement – Strong understanding of social media trends, digital tools (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite), and content creation for outreach.
- Results-Driven Mindset – Ability to track outreach efforts, engagement metrics, and referral outcomes to measure success and adjust strategies as needed.
