Job Description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule planned maintenance through cooperation with the operations team. Conduct related administrative tasks as necessary. Prioritize and assign tasks to maintenance team members, conduct safety briefings before projects, perform after action reviews following projects.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and related repairs on mobile and stationary engine driven equipment. Safely lead and train other team members while conducting these tasks.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and related repairs on stationary electrically driven equipment. Safely lead and train other team members while conducting these tasks.
Conduct reactive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairs when equipment failures occur. Safely lead and train other team members while conducting these tasks.
Perform repairs and inspections on buildings and non-equipment assets. May include : Minor construction tasks, electrical repairs or installations, plumbing repairs, HVAC inspections and repairs, etc. Safely lead and train other team members while conducting these tasks.
Identify, source, and order parts required for repairs. This will be through established or new vendors, or through collaboration with other VMI locations.
Identify, source, and schedule third party maintenance support through vendors and through collaboration with other VMI locations.
Perform administrative duties related to personnel, including review and approval of timesheets, employee reviews, and employee coaching. As needed, conduct interviews of additional maintenance staff.
Perform additional tasks as required based on company needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bilingual preferred but not required

4 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor.

2 years of supervising other maintenance professionals and prioritizing maintenance tasks – short term and long-term operational needs.

Experience running maintenance systems such as : CMMS, critical spare parts, KPIs.

Verifiable experience in troubleshooting, hydraulics, industrial mechanical and medium low voltage electrical issues.

6 years of experience repairing large complex equipment used in one or more of the following : scrap metal processing, manufacturing, agriculture, heavy equipment.

Experienced in developing and maintaining a highly safety focused work environment

Ability to well in a team, no silo effect or division between Operations group and maintenance.

Formal training in heavy equipment maintenance – accredited trade school Industrial Electrical or Mechanical certification, or associates degree in a related discipline – preferred, or comparable work experience.

Must have own tools.

Physical Requirements :

Work is in open climate warehouse and outdoor metal sorting and processing

Must pass drug screening and background check

Must be able to work in the United States.

Must be able to work outdoors; Position is in all weather elements (hot / cold, rain / snow)

Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds and have general knowledge of tools.

PPE Requirement : steel toed boots; safety glasses, hard hat, high visibility clothing, ear plugs

Exposure Issues; dust, fumes possible high noise levels
