The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading and overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, working capital, cash management, and compliance functions. This role will play a critical part in financial decision-making, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, deep technical expertise in accounting principles, and experience in a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Accounting CPA and/or master’s degree 7 years of relevant experience, 3 years with supervisory responsibilities Prior experience working as a Controller and in a private equity backed firm strongly preferred. Experience working for a public accounting firm a plus International experience preferred Well-developed technical skills, including a thorough knowledge of and experience with GAAP, internal controls and processes, and tax filings Proven ability to manage people and build high functioning teams Direct and open communicator with exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills Well-developed analytical and decision making Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Advanced level of competency in Excel Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines Results oriented with a proven drive for action and achievement Exceptional work ethic, great attitude, collaborative, and a team player Persuasive, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and pro-active PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of approximately five direct and fourteen indirect reports
- Ability to develop and foster a high performing team
- Supervise accounting operations in compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Oversee all financial transaction processing and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
- Direct the preparation, analysis, and consolidation of monthly financial statements.
- Provide insightful management reporting to support business decisions and drive results.
- Develop and present financial reports, including internal financial packages, board presentations, dashboards, and debt compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with external reporting requirements, including financial institutions and auditors.
- Oversee the treasury cash management function and ensure debt compliance with covenants.
- Partner closely with CFO on changes to capital structure as needed.
- Optimize working capital by managing the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management functions.
- Manage the annual budgeting process and short- and long-term financial forecasting.
- Maintain, or partner closely with FP&A to routinely update cash flow forecasts as needed.
- Establish, refine, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain records in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate year-end external audits and lead internal financial reviews as necessary.
- Oversee the identification and resolution of technical accounting issues.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and document accounting positions.
- Oversee compliance with domestic and international tax filings, including income, sales, and use taxes, and audits.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance financial operations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- CPA designation required, with a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting experience, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Prior experience as a Controller, with private equity-backed firm experience strongly preferred.
- A background in public accounting is a plus.
- International accounting experience is desirable.
- Strong technical expertise in GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Proven ability to manage and develop teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
