The Field Service Worker performs field maintenance, inspection, installation or repairs in one or more areas such as system protection, replacing and installing clean outs, service (tap) and system connections, and inspecting and maintaining manholes and sewer facility grounds.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Involving maintenance of the city's wastewater systems and their respective accessories and facilities.
- Sewer manhole construction maintenance and repair, mixing and pouring cement mortar, cleaning and repairing manholes, sewer mains, service lines.
- Roadway work flushing out sewer mains and cleanouts in the maintenance of city and residential sewer service lines.
- Operate heavy equipment as in a Backhoe, Tractor, Bush hog, zero turn mower, Jetter truck etc.
- Use of heavy hand tools as in a Jack Hammer, Road saw, stirring concrete etc.
- Inspect wastewater lines and components, repair and replace damaged components.
- Tap into sewer mains with new service lines.
- Hydro-clean, saw and remove blockage from sanitary sewer lines.
- Assist in video inspection of sanitary sewer main lines.
- Prepare and maintain work zones. May be required to direct traffic.
- Mow and weed the grass/weeds and pick up debris around sewer facilities.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of jetter truck, high pressure water equipment and various specialty tools in confined spaces.
- Completes all paperwork including task sheets and reports as may be required.
- Complete dispatched task in an efficient and timely manner.
- Communicate to competent persons the abnormalities or faulty situations regarding the process, product, machine, equipment, workplace or other.
- Wear safety personal protective equipment as required for this position, work safely and observe all safety procedures.
- Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company policies.
- Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments.
- Assures compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.
- Install, repair, replace, and trouble shoot Plant equipment to include piping systems, valves, traps, pumps.
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to tolerate heat, cold, rain, snow, wind.
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Mechanical aptitude and equipment operation experience.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions (rain, sleet, snow, extreme heat and cold).
- Must be willing to be on standby and perform call back duties.
- Able to work various hours.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 90 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders in and out of manholes.
