We are looking for an experienced and qualified Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee the nursing department operations for a large skilled nursing home in the Dayton area. As Director of Nursing, your role will be managing the nursing staff, ensuring high standards of patient care, and overseeing the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures. The Director of Nursing will work closely with the administrator and other department heads to ensure the facility operates efficiently and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in nursing management, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of healthcare regulations and best practices.
You will perform a range of duties including maintaining department budgets, setting long-term goals, and overseeing record-keeping processes. - Oversee the nursing department, including hiring, training, and evaluating nursing staff.
- Develop, implement, and update nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and the achievement of patient care outcomes.
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure effective interdisciplinary teamwork and facility operations.
- Manage departmental budgets, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
- Address and resolve patient and staff concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure ongoing staff education and professional development.
- Stay current with changes in healthcare regulations and best practices, implementing necessary changes in the facility.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Current RN license
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role within a healthcare facility.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of nursing practices and healthcare regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement nursing policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in healthcare management software and electronic health records (EHR).
