Verily’s internship is a paid 13 week program for rising seniors, either undergraduate or graduate students, who are interested in working at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare. The program is designed for all students, and again this year we encourage students who have been historically underrepresented in this field to explore the program, which is a pathway towards full-time employment within Verily. This includes but is not limited to: Black/African-American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native American, students with disabilities, veterans, and non-binary people.
We are looking for an enthusiastic AI intern to contribute to projects involving generative AI, multi-modal LLM systems, and fine-tuning techniques, with a focus on healthcare applications like EHR integration. This role offers the opportunity to apply state-of-the-art research to real-world problems and gain hands-on experience in developing innovative, domain-specific solutions.

Responsibilities
- Develop robust, scalable code for integrating generative AI into healthcare applications.
- Incorporate state of the art research on generative AI, agents, and inference systems.
- Explore multi-model LLM systems.
- Fine-tune large language models for various applications in the healthcare domain.
Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a PhD in Computer Science or related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing agentic systems powered by LLMs.
- Proven publication record in LLM research topics in top venue (e.g., fine-tuning, multi-modal systems, or agentic frameworks).
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience with healthcare data and understanding EHR (electronic health records) terminology.
- Expertise interfacing LLMs with knowledge graphs for enhanced information retrieval.
- Ability to work cross-functionally on teams, with a tolerance for ambiguity.
- Creative and methodical problem solving: understand needs, identify options, form hypotheses, generate robust results, make informed decisions, and learn faster through feedback.
Salary : $54 - $63
