Job Description: The primary purpose of a Certified Occupational Therapists Assistant is to plan, organize, develop and direct our facility’s Physical/Occupational Therapy Services in accordance with applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines, regulations to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be maintained at all times.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, implementing and coordinating patient care plans for individual patients in coordination and conjunction with the patient’s assessment
- Brief patient of procedures involved in occupational therapy and prepare necessary equipment.
- Determine proper equipment usage, application and body position, make adjustments when necessary in the administration of occupational therapy treatments
- Recommend modifications of changes in the patient’s therapy program based on evaluation of progress
- Ensure that all therapy notes are informative, descriptive and follow Company’s policy and procedures
- Follow the treatment plan for patients under the direction of the supervising OT
- Work closely with patients, family members and other care team members to adequately plan for patient needs, to include short term and long-term goals
- Verify patient information and confirm purpose of treatment
- Monitor each movement to ensure the patient is performing them properly to avoid new/further injuries
- Effectively communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans
- Chart appropriately and timely
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in patient development, recovery, and improving skills needed for daily functionalities
- Must demonstrate dependability and regular attendance
- Must be able to reassure patient before and during therapy treatment
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions
Qualifications
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active certification to practice as a COTA in the applicable state-must report any situations that may arise in which the certification could be affected
- Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and have current license or be license-eligible in the state of Colorado
- Pre-employment background check and drug screen required
Salary : $31 - $36
