Instrument Technicians at GSVS – Woodbridge work alongside veterinary technicians, emergency doctors, and veterinary specialists, ensuring that all instruments used for surgical procedures are clean and sterilized, operating rooms and surgery treatment area are clean and ready for use. Your role specifically ensures the safety and efficiency of surgical operations. On any given day, you can expect to do the following as an Instrument Technician:
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday, 10am – 7pm

Instrument Technicians at GSVS – Woodbridge work alongside veterinary technicians, emergency doctors, and veterinary specialists, ensuring that all instruments used for surgical procedures are clean and sterilized, operating rooms and surgery treatment area are clean and ready for use. Your role specifically ensures the safety and efficiency of surgical operations. On any given day, you can expect to do the following as an Instrument Technician:
- Monitor surgery schedule to ensure all necessary equipment will be available to the surgery team that day.
- Prepare OR for surgery; select appropriate packs, instruments, and materials for the procedure being performed
- Take patients to and from surgery as requested
- Clean surgical instruments after surgery, to include use of the ultrasonic cleaner and instrument milk
- Wrap surgical packs, extra instruments, and other materials for sterilization
- Use of the autoclave and gas sterilization machine and perform all routine maintenance (certification required for gas sterilizer, will provide training)
- Inform supervisor of any broken or damaged equipment
- Take routine inventory of stock
- Maintain pack, instrument, and equipment lists
- Restock drawers, shelves, surgery and refill alcohol and scrub container
- Clean after any procedures in the Radiology area, keep protective gear hung up and clean
- General cleaning, sanitizing, trash removal
- Check to see that all animals have food and water (unless medically withheld), and are clean
- Clean cages and runs during the day
- Assist other areas of the hospital, as needed.
- At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary hospital preferred but not required
- Team oriented

- Ability to communicate with clients and all members of the veterinary team
