Summary of Responsibilities:
Performs the day-to-day full-charge bookkeeping duties for clients' accounting needs and records transactions within established systems and procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Verifies and enters details of transactions as they occur in computerized accounting system.
- Prepares monthly financial statements accurately and timely, using a computer software program.
- Prepares appropriate schedules and reports as requested.
- Handles daily accounting mail, including notices and disbursements.
- Prepares payroll and all payroll tax returns on timely basis.
- Prepares bank reconciliations monthly.
- Research accounts payable and accounts receivable issues as needed.
- Communicates regularly with client, serving as the main point of contact for client requests.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating client specific procedures for the firm.
Other Duties:
- May prepare or review monthly statements to clients.
- May run reports using the time and billing software program
- Coordinates and controls the retention of the firm’s accounting and legal records, ensuring that all information is safely stored and available on short notice.
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
- May be asked to train other staff on how to handle client accounting transactions with the guidance of the Accounting Manager.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- A minimum of five (5) years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience related to a computerized accounting system, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports;
OR
College coursework in accounting, through Intermediate Accounting and a minimum of three (3) years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience related to the aforementioned areas. - Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
- Ability to operate calculator, computer, and other general office equipment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English.
- Works with confidential firm and personnel matters, requires ability to keep matters confidential.
- Ability to prepare individual and business tax returns (preferred).
