Verity is hiring for a Payment Services Specialist II at our Seattle, WA Headquarters location. This is a hybrid position. Since 1933, Verity has been a local member-owned credit union. We are also the only financial institution in the Pacific Northwest that is a part of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV).

The Payment Services Specialist ll works closely with the Operations team to assist members and departments throughout the Credit Union. This position is responsible for supporting the ACH process and overseeing the daily operations of the overdraft program and may provide additional support for the wire process. This role will also assist with supporting other Operations Department functions, while working closely with the Operations Manager to help develop best practices for optimizing usage and streamlining processes to improve efficiencies and the overall member experience.

- Base Pay: This positionhas a salary range of $25.78 (minimum) to $38.66 (maximum), with a midpoint of $32.22. Starting pay is offered based upon an applicant’s experience and education relevant to the position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
ACH and Payment Processing
- Assist with processing incoming/outgoing ACH files, exception reports, and disputes.
- Supports the processing of ACH and check disputes.
- Assist with monitoring, reviewing, and facilitating electronic payments for members through multiple channels, including ACH, wires, and FRB clearing files.
- May assist with set up and maintenance of external payments.
Overdraft Management
- Work with members regarding Verity’s overdraft program.
- Review daily, monthly, and quarterly overdraft reports.
- Complete monthly overdraft report summaries.
Compliance and Support
- Supports the process of garnishments, levies, reclamations, and death notifications.
- Supports the IRA Program.
- Supports the audit and QC function.
General Ledger and Reporting
- Supports the balancing of any related GLs.
- Create and maintain procedures.
- Complete service requests tickets based on SLAs.
Cross-Training and Miscellaneous
- Cross-train and provide backup to other job functions within the Operations Department.
- May assist with referring accounts for external collection processing.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Regulatory Compliance: Implements NACHA and garnishment regulations in daily operations, ensuring adherence and accuracy.
- Member Service Excellence: Resolves member inquiries regarding overdrafts, ACH disputes, and payment processes with efficiency and empathy.
- Problem-Solving: Analyzes and resolves complex operational challenges, such as overdraft discrepancies and GL balancing issues.
- Operational Accuracy: Ensures accuracy in all payment processes, including GL balancing and overdraft program management.
- Continuous Learning: Proactive mindset towards ongoing learning and staying updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in operations support.
- Technology Proficiency: Applies advanced technical skills to manage payment systems, electronic transactions, and reporting tools.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Works collaboratively with the Operations team and supports leadership in implementing department improvements.
- Time Management: Prioritizes and executes key responsibilities, such as managing reports and service requests, within established timelines.
- Adaptability and Initiative: Embraces changes in processes and systems, proactively contributing ideas for enhancements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum six (6) months to two (2) years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a financial institution is preferred.
- Experience with customer service preferred.
