The Senior Strategist, Social is responsible for the development and implementation of a compelling, on-brand strategic vision across our social media platforms. We’re looking for an experienced social media strategist who is creative, culturally-attuned, forward-thinking and data-driven – possessing equal parts “creative brain” and “strategic brain”.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $108,000.00 and $201,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The Senior Strategist, Social is responsible for the development and implementation of a compelling, on-brand strategic vision across our social media platforms. We’re looking for an experienced social media strategist who is creative, culturally-attuned, forward-thinking and data-driven – possessing equal parts “creative brain” and “strategic brain”.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the team to create work across our social channels that drives both the brand and the business, while also strategically evaluating work from our partner agencies.
- Generating comprehensive, data-driven and consumer-centric communication plans that inform all channels for Verizon Consumer Group and bring our brand closer to consumers through authentic content and engaging conversations.
- Acquiring and sharing deep knowledge of the industry, including the competitive landscape, category disruptors, and key business issues that affect Verizo
- Setting the strategic direction for social media content and driving alignment with overall business strategy.
- Developing thorough and integrated social media strategies and briefs using data analysis and creativity, and presenting them to the creative team.
- Collaborating with the creative team to ensure that all content ladders up to approved strategies and briefs.
- Intuitively adapting to ever-changing landscape of social platforms/social content, and actively advising the team on how our content should reflect these changes.
- Researching key stakeholders and their business needs to support creative social media strategy and inform its execution.
- Providing strategic recommendations and content support for social media channels for ad hoc projects and campaigns, while ensuring consistency with internal content standards and best practices.
- Managing social media editorial calendar, maintaining a unified single view of planned content and ad hoc content, ensuring content is timely, culturally relevant, on brand, and cohesive to larger social media strategy.
- Working with data, analytics, and media teams to identify and illuminate the data’s narrative and frame the implications for communication.
- Facilitating team brainstorms to stimulate unexpected ideas and initiatives.
You’ll Need To Have
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
- Experience in strategy development and planning roles, with an emphasis on social and digital channels.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
- Eight or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience briefing an in-house creative team and/or ad agency.
- Experience in social media judgment (e.g., knowing what to post and when to post it).
- Knowledge in optimizing content on specific social media platforms to drive engagement.
- Deep understanding of the role that influence and advocacy play on brand engagement in the social space and beyond, and knows how to leverage this for successful social media activations.
- Willingness to build strong relationships with both internal and external agency teams.
- Willingness to craft strategic POVs on industry-related topics in an ever-changing media landscape, and deliver them clearly and concisely.
- Willingness to show confidence in front of an audience; willingness to be the ‘center of the room’.
- Willingness to accomplish work independently with minimal guidance.
- Experience managing complex 360 & digital campaigns, including working closely with creative teams to tailor campaign messaging to specific media channels.
- Platform proficiency, competent in ad platforms including but not limited to paid social, programmatic display, search, remarketing.
- Experience in team oversight and talent development.
- Experience building learning plans for both quantitative and qualitative research initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills, understanding of KPI measurement and attribution.
- Willingness to manage daily priorities and proactively identify future opportunities for the brand/business.
