Job Summary Work Shift 1 - First Shift The Technical Illustrator II manages documentation of an engineered bill of material (BOM). This role focuses on parts and/or assembly documentation and/or technical writing. Technical documents may include the following: parts, operator, maintenance, or service manuals; service bulletins, kit installation instructions, and service notes/techpoint. These documents will be used regularly by end users, dealers, and other internal groups. This position understands the inner workings of these technical publications as well as their target customer’s needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors. 2. Create and/or revise documentation of engineered bill of material (BOM) into a format consistent with the needs of the target customer. 3. Ensure assembly documents align with engineered BOM into a format consistent with the needs of the target customer. Ensure parts manuals align with engineered BOM and quality expectations set by leadership. 4. Organize material and edit content for adaptation to required machine model. Complete writing of the first draft manual and submit to engineering, service, and product safety/legal team for content review. 5. Provide customer service to a variety of customers including dealers, internal team members, and equipment end users. Support team members through sharing of best practices and completion of workload as needed. 6. Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality standards are kept. 7. Populate workflow communication tools. 8. Translate information from multiple parties into a clear and concise manner for use by primary and secondary customers. Education and/or Experience - High school diploma required. - Minimum of 3 years previous job experience and/or training with assembly or manufacturing. - Associate’s Degree preferred. - Design software experience such as SolidWorks, Pro-E, AutoCad, Draftsight, etc. preferred. Other Skills and Abilities - Understanding of production assembly and dealer needs. - Knowledge in the areas of ECN changes, production/assembly changes, and manufacturing principles and practices. - Knowledge in the area(s) of applicable software programs. - Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers. - Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers. - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while supporting the department. - Demonstration of good verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to write clear instructions and effectively manage revisions. - Ability to communicate with vendors and engineers to produce updated manuals. - Ability to assign part numbers for purchased item sub components. Travel Up to 5% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required. Work Location HYBRID: Some of a team member’s day-to-day work may be best done at a location other than a Vermeer campus. Discuss specific arrangements with your manager.
