POSITION: Database Manager
Position Summary: The Database Manager is the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board’s (VHCB) dedicated and technically proficient data systems analyst, responsible for the design, management, documentation, and development of our custom-built database, and ensuring high-quality data within the organization. VHCB uses a custom .NET application, which serves as a critical system for managing projects and compliance tied to state and federal funding sources. This role involves managing the application’s Microsoft SQL Server back end, acting as a liaison between VHCB staff and database programmer, ensuring smooth integration with our internal document management system (FileHold 17.3), working closely with VHCB staff on data collection and capture, and developing and maintaining reports and the reporting platform. The Database Manager utilizes a creative and problem-solving approach to ensure VHCB’s data and reporting functions are meeting the varied needs of the organization and helping us move our mission forward.

Qualifications:
- Committed to supporting VHCB’s mission.
- 3 years of experience with .NET development (C#, ASP.NET, or MVC).
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn Exago or similar reporting platform.
- Experience integrating applications with document management systems.
- Flexibility and motivation to keep up with evolving and emerging data related projects.
- Ability or willingness to approach database management in the context of non-profit and governmental reporting, and to support the organization to meet its mission.
- Familiarity with metadata-driven document systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Ability to work with different roles and technical levels in the organization including developers, administrative staff, network managers, and end users.
- Experience with FileHold or similar document storage system is preferred.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical thinking, and leadership or project management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team as required.
- Some occasional evenings and weekends are needed to coordinate with VHCB’s Database Coordinator, who typically operates outside of normal business hours.
Compensation: $72,500 - $80,500 commensurate with experience.
