What are the responsibilities and job description for the Projects Coordinator - Statewide Treatment Court Grant position at Vermont Judiciary?
The Projects Coordinator supports the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Statewide Treatment Court Grant by assisting with state-based coordination, services, evaluation, and training to enhance Vermont treatment court dockets. This position involves administrative, project development, and technical responsibilities and may include: identifying system needs and/or problems; identifying impacts on the Judiciary of proposed strategies, programs and activities recommending outcomes to be achieved to fulfill the grants goals, or strategic planning objectives analyzing potential solutions; developing and implementing action plans; recommending and coordinating training; and work on dockets, programs, systems, and/or projects as assigned. This position reports to the Treatment Court Programs Manager directly and the Chief of Planning and Court Services. Under direction of the Judiciary's Division of Planning and Court Services, work is performed with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and evaluative thinking.
The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational and interpersonal skills and professional experience in a legal or social services setting. It is essential that this individual maintains cooperative customer service-oriented relationships with treatment providers, judicial officers and judicial branch staff, representatives from other branches of government and various public and private groups.
This is a full-time, limited-service position that can be based in Montpelier, Vermont or another location in Vermont. Starting salary is $26.57 per hour with full State of Vermont employee benefits. The limited-service role is funded through the BJA grant with projected funding through September 2028. Continued employment after that date will be dependent upon further funding. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, public health/substance abuse, criminal justice, behavioral science, social work, psychology; or related bachelor's degree.
Experience: Two or more years of experience in a public, private or non-profit setting with direct responsibility for action planning, process improvement, program operations, and grants management.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in systems and program development, grant management, and a working knowledge of program and services of the Vermont Judicial Branch and the Agency of Human Services, particularly related to the criminal justice system, substance abuse and mental health disorders.
Summary of Duties
- Coordinate and implement the two BJA Treatment Court Grants.
- Oversee maintenance of statewide treatment docket management information data system.
- Manage grant goals, objectives and timelines.
- Support creation of ongoing statewide program evaluations.
- Coordinate grant related trainings.
- Develop and oversee grants related contracts and services.
- Coordinate budget and invoice processing.
- Provide required grant related reporting to BJA at intervals specified in the grant award. Ability to identify system needs and/or problems, analyze potential solutions, and develop and implement actions plans.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships at multiple levels of the organization and among diverse public and private stakeholders.
- Ability to be innovative and self-motivated and sustain a high level of accomplishment.
- Working knowledge of the interface between substance abuse issues, mental health issues and the criminal justice system.
- Working knowledge of evidence-based practices and treatment best practices standards to allow effective quality assurance of program deliverables.
- Working knowledge of grant administration and compliance monitoring.
- Working knowledge of computer technology and software applications, including applications relating to data collection and program. management and grant administration.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
This is a Judicial Branch position equivalent to pay grade 23. Starting salary is $26.57 per hour. This position will be eligible for longevity increases in accordance with the State step pay plan and annual cost of living increases as enacted by the Vermont State Legislature. Occasional travel to other locations and overnight, weekend or evening meetings may be required. Travel will be reimbursed according to State policies. Job Code #25009
