Community Liaison - VHHS
Overview: This position facilitates parent-school communication, encourages parent and family involvement in the school, fosters trust between parents and the educational community, and fosters higher academic achievement through collaboration with school personnel.
Reports to: Assistant Principal for Student Services

Calendar: Ten-Month Employee, 7:30am - 4:00pm, with evening events as needed
Qualifications: Education and experience equivalent to high school graduation
Professional/Personal Characteristics:
- Previous experience in an educational setting preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under varying deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Proficient with Google G-Suite, office and phone equipment
- Bilingual and biliterate Spanish/English required; bicultural preferred
- Understanding of the sensitivity required when communicating to students and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Experience working in collaboration with community groups, nonprofit organizations, and local government agencies to support the needs of students and their families
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist school and/or district with developing and implementing programs for parent and family involvement that supports improving academic achievement for targeted students associated with the Title I program
- Provides information on programs/services available to students and families and school and/or district activities and procedures; refers families to other agencies while fostering an ongoing partnership between the home and school
- Provides support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for enlisting parental involvement in students' educational programs; working with parents and students in identifying and achieving goals; accessing support services; creating training programs; and facilitating positive parent, school, and student relationships
- Implements and manages parenting initiatives, parent education programming, and activities to empower parents to become positive active participants in the education of their children. Serves as the Title I chairperson in organization and documentation of parental involvement
- Promotes parent/family participation in local schools and community-based volunteer opportunities
- Supports families in obtaining appropriate resources based on need and assessment
- Attends all required program in services, conferences, and training
- Assesses family needs and provides developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents
- Develops and facilitates local Bilingual Parent Advisory Council(s)
- Coordinate services with other community programs and agencies and attend community-based programs/events to keep up to date with trends
