What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chargemaster Specialist position at Vernon Memorial HealthCare?
We are hiring a Limited-part time Chargemaster Specialist in our Revenue Cycle Team. This position will be one day per week for 8 hours.
In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and keeping up-to-date knowledge about charge capture and chargemaster strategies for Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) and Rural Health Clinics (RHC). Working under the Director of Revenue Cycle, you'll help ensure that clinical service line leaders take charge of accurate charge capture, coding, and revenue integrity within the Epic system. This involves consulting with these leaders on charge processes, supporting clinical departments to maintain consistency in charges and coding, and addressing issues with CPT and revenue codes. You'll also incorporate updates for new charges and services, review pricing and codes for compliance, and collaborate with leadership to review chargemaster changes.
Your job will also include collaborating with revenue-generating departments and informatics teams to ensure accurate charge capture, investigating billing system errors with revenue cycle and clinical teams, and performing detailed annual reviews of the chargemaster. You'll coordinate meetings on new programs, equipment, and code developments, maintain an audit trail of chargemaster changes, and communicate these changes to affected departments. Additionally, you'll collaborate with clinical staff, the Director of Revenue Cycle, HIM Manager, and Compliance Officer on chargemaster improvement projects and facilitate the annual charge rate review process.
An associate's degree in finance, business, health, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. In addition, knowledge of chargemaster, medical coding, healthcare billing, and compliance regulations (coding certification is a plus). A minimum of 3 years of experience in hospital charge capture or billing is preferred, with familiarity in maintaining price files and record-keeping. Strong computer skills, effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
Minimum starting hourly rate $23.16 depending on experience. Apply on-line at www.vmh.org.
