What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospital Pharmacy Technician position at Vernon Memorial Healthcare?
Do you have great attention to detail? Do you like doing a variety of tasks? Do you like learning about new technology? Maybe the hospital pharmacy is for you? Our entry level position as a hospital pharmacy technician might be for you. You will work with a great group of pharmacists and other technicians to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to our patients in the hospital and clinics. The hours for the Pharmacy Technician are four days per week, 10-hour shifts, between 6:00 am – 5:00 pm with rotating weekends and holidays.
Duties include managing medication inventories in Omnicell cabinets, managing vaccine inventories and assisting with compliance with Vaccine for Children's program in the hospital and clinics. Packaging/unit dosing medication, sterile and non-sterile compounding of medications, preparing monoclonal antibody and chemotherapy infusions for our infusion center, cleaning and auditing Omnicell, temperature monitoring of medications, assisting in 340B program compliance are common tasks for a hospital pharmacy technician.
Requirements and skills for the job include being reliable with a keen eye for detail, possessing excellent communication and customer service skills, and having outstanding organizational abilities. Proficiency in computer skills is necessary, along with fine motor skills to perform sterile compounding under USP <797> and <800>. Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician License application is required at date of hire.
