WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We need someone who can work weekday and/or weekend shifts from 8 AM - 6 PM.
Duties include:
- Fueling rental boats every morning, maintaining boats, and guiding guests on boater safety and recommended routes. Must be able to operate a boat and have a boater safety card if born after 1988.
- Providing basic paddle board and kayak lessons, advising on the best routes based on wind and weather conditions.
- Monitoring reservations and ensuring guests have the necessary equipment.
- Using basic tools for repairs—during downtime, you will be responsible for fixing docks, equipment, and boats.
- Assisting in the tackle shop: retrieving live shrimp for guests, cleaning, sweeping, and mopping.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Understanding of Florida weather and how it affects water sports and beach activities.
- Strong customer service skills—our guest experience is extremely important.
- Experience with paddle boarding and kayaking (training provided, but you must have prior experience).
- Local fishing knowledge is a plus, but not required.
- Experience operating a boat on the Indian River Lagoon.
- Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat—this is a physically demanding job.
- Comfortable using booking software to manage reservations.
- Strong communication skills—your interactions with guests will shape their experience.
- Experience using tools such as wrenches, ratchets, drills, and saws.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Paddle Board & Kayak Rentals:
- Arrive at 8 AM to prepare the dock.
- Clean the dock, removing any dirt, debris, and barnacle/algae buildup.
- Set up and maintain paddle boards, kayaks, paddles, and life vests.
- Monitor reservations to ensure guests have their equipment ready upon arrival.
- Provide guests with basic paddling lessons and recommend the best routes based on weather conditions.
- Assist guests with getting on/off paddle boards and in/out of kayaks.
- Secure and clean equipment at the end of the day.
- Assist the concierge when all other tasks are complete.
Boat Rentals:
- Clean docks and boats before guest arrivals.
- Ensure boats are fueled, running properly, and prepared for rental.
- Provide a safety briefing and explain boating rules for the Indian River Lagoon.
- Assist guests in launching and returning boats.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain boats after use.
- Monitor reservations and perform general boat maintenance as needed.
