Manufacturing Engineer

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving improvements and implementing change within our Manufacturing Departments. You will focus on designing tools, fixtures, and innovative solutions that ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in our assembly processes. This role emphasizes Lean Manufacturing principles and offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects, both for existing products and new product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager to review and optimize processes for feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Design holding fixtures, jigs, and test fixtures to improve manufacturing processes.
- Identify and implement innovative technologies to enhance operations at VERSA.
- Lead cost-reduction projects, track progress, and document results.
- Manage manufacturing process improvements from concept to design, fabrication, and implementation.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors, including external machine shops, to address manufacturing needs.
- Participate in failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for quality issues.
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D designs using CAD and SolidWorks.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, particularly in a metals environment.
- Hands-on experience with equipment such as drill presses, milling, turning, and grinding machines.
Technical Skills
- Advanced skills in CAD and SolidWorks (2D and 3D).
- Strong mechanical expertise, including working with and troubleshooting pneumatic systems and components.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting PLC-controlled test fixtures is a plus.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with excellent written, verbal, and listening communication abilities.
