Supervisor, Lab - Night Shift
Shift: Wednesday-Saturday 5:00pm-3:30am

Scope and Purpose of Position
The Lab Supervisor will oversee and direct the activities of an ophthalmic lab. The lab supervisor will also train and manage performance of production associates to support Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Essential Functions
All Associates must comply with the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) as it pertains to disclosures of protected health information (PHI) as described in the Notice of Privacy Practices and HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures. As a component of job roles and responsibilities, Associates may have access to covered information, cardholder data or other confidential customer information which must be protected at all times. As a result, Associates must explicitly adhere to all data security guidelines established within the Company’s Privacy & Security Training Program

The Lab Supervisor will oversee and direct the activities of an ophthalmic lab. The lab supervisor will also train and manage performance of production associates to support Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Essential Functions
- Supervise all functions of the optical lab.
- Ensure proper workflow and mix of work in optical lab.
- Monitor eyewear breakage throughout assigned shift and ensure reasons for breakage is analyzed and corrected.
- Review reports to ensure jobs are being moved effectively and efficiently throughout the lab in assigned areas.
- Ensuring old and priority jobs are being processed timely.
- Develop, implement and monitor training of all new associates to department.
- Provide coaching to associates to ensure a productive workforce.
- Move associates around to other areas of the department to ensure proper workflow.
- Work with other Lab Supervisors to ensure proper workflow is maintained.
- Develop and refine procedures in the optical lab.
- Ensure supplies are maintained.
- Ensure lab equipment is fully functional.
- Check jobs being returned and compile reasons
- Ensure all associates adhere to proper safety procedures.
- Supervise and execute all activities associated with respect to quality, customer service, cost, environmental, health and safety within assigned area and fill in for other areas as needed.
- Responsible for driving results and achieving operational goals and targets identified in “Key Performance Indicators” (KPI).
- Execute consistent processes and procedures to support efficient operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and utilize structured problem solving techniques to create and implement solutions.
- Achieve metrics and KPI’s to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Work closely with other staff members to maintain a well cross trained workforce.
- Assist with hiring, training, coaching and counseling associates.
- Acts as a member of the management team and performs other duties as directed.
- Practice and comply with all requirements of our Quality Management System (QMS), prescribed safety and hazardous materials handling procedures, and Federal/State laws regulating hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.
- High School diploma/GED required/ or minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- 3-5 years experience in optical lab or manufacturing environment in a supervisory capacity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Experience in working with structured procedures and processes.
- Familiar or exposure to working in a high volume manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of ANSI and New Jersey standards
