Position Overview
Under the direction of the Communications & Marketing Manager, this position is responsible for acting as the spokesperson in the following capacities: lead for corporate initiatives and projects, shared responsibility for storms and outages, and support for community initiatives and outreach. This position monitors and influences customer and public attitudes toward the company, oversees and develops media and economic development relationships (such as Chambers), assists in the development and management of communication plans, and builds strong collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders.

Position Overview

This position monitors and influences customer and public attitudes toward the company, oversees and develops media and economic development relationships (such as Chambers), assists in the development and management of communication plans, and builds strong collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Performs all duties with the upmost regard for personal and workplace safety.
- Performs as the spokesperson on Versant Power corporate initiatives and projects.
- Shares media management, press release, spokesperson and communication duties for storm restoration and response.
- Acts as a back-up spokesperson on internal and community initiatives to the Community & Internal Communication Specialist.
- Works with the Communications & Marketing Manager to develop communication plans.
- Proactively develops and maintains relationships with media outlets, as well as educates on the company and business functions.
- Develops and maintains Chamber relationships to foster economic development and business opportunities and partnerships.
- Cultivates relationships throughout the company to understand initiatives and develop communications, press releases, and talking points
- Monitors company mentions across social media and news outlets to guide outreach, prepare responses, and protect company reputation.
- Shares on-call duties to provide outage notifications in a timely manner.
- Coordinates public relations and corporate events to promote business initiatives.
- Coordinates community event sponsorships and budget to strategically support communities across the company footprint and identify employee volunteer opportunities.
- Designs (both graphic design and copywriting) all types of collateral including fliers, brochures, ads, promotional pieces, and content.
- Other related duties as assigned including designated duties associated with System Restoration.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in public relations, marketing, advertising, or business
- At least 3 years of experience in public relations, relationship management, and public presentation/speaking.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to articulate complex messages.
- Ability to handle multiple and complex priorities in fast-paced environment.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Power Point, Microsoft Word, and Outlook. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is desired.
- Proficiency with a Social Media Management tool, such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite is desired.
- Valid Maine Driver’s license required.
