POSITION SUMMARY
The Creative Director at Vertiv leads a global team of 30 creative professionals in visual communication, web design, multimedia production, and branding, reporting to the Global Vice President of Corporate Marketing, with a dotted line to the Senior Global Brand Director who leads the Global Brand Center of Excellence (COE). The Creative Director collaborates with senior leaders, including C-level executives. Based in Westerville, Ohio, the role oversees creative managers and senior project roles and drives initiatives for product launches, campaigns, and strategic events across business units and regional teams. Exceptional design management skills are critical to delivering high-quality creative outputs in a fast-paced, complex environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Articulates Vertiv’s creative vision, sets standards and drives innovation.
- Collaborates with the Global Brand Center of Excellence (COE) on vision and strategy.
- Explores new creative methods and techniques to engage target audiences and educate internal teams.
- Ensures coherent outcomes across projects, enabling brand differentiation through world-class creative execution.
- Provides solutions for complex visual communication needs by consulting with internal clients.
- Directs the creative management team to deliver accurate and timely services for day-to-day requests and strategic initiatives.
- Manages staffing and capacity, partnering with agencies as needed to maintain service levels.
- Fosters professional development, cross-training, and continuous improvement to broaden services, enhance productivity, and drive retention and growth.
- Partners with the Senior Creative Project Manager to manage the department’s budget, including spending, projections, and invoices.
- Oversees tools for project management and contracts with strategic providers, such as stock footage and audio studios.
- Organizes annual performance reviews, drives goal-setting programs, and tracks progress with the creative management team throughout the year.
- Coordinates creative requirements for major programs, including large-scale internal events, market-facing events, and strategic product launches or announcements.
- Guides art directors in enhancing and expanding the brand across multiple touchpoints.
- Directs regional marketing teams on brand standards and supports agency onboarding.
- Works closely with the Global Brand COE to implement standards, develop templates, update guidelines, and deliver training and communication programs.
- Leads the in-house creative services team and agencies to deliver complex multimedia, environmental branding, and digital projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of experience in design, project management, or in-house/agency creative roles.
- 8 years of experience in digital marketing within a B2B technical environment.
- 8 years of people management experience.
- Confident in presenting visual communication solutions to an executive audience.
- Excellent eye for design and typography, with the ability to provide constructive feedback to the creative team.
- Proven working knowledge of creative disciplines, including graphic design, video and 3D, front-end web development, and UX/UI.
- Technical expertise in marketing technology systems such as content management systems, commercial product information management systems (cPIM), digital asset management (DAM), marketing automation workflows, and project management tools like Wrike.
- Strong communicator capable of conveying design best practices and project details across all levels, including executives.
- Demonstrated marketing proficiency with experience managing a team of creative experts.
- Leadership experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Driven by creative intuition while incorporating data for validation, reporting results, and optimizing strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing creative development across global regions to balance global and local requirements.
- Advanced degree (MFA, MBA, or similar) in addition to an undergraduate degree in design, multimedia, or industrial design.
- Experience marketing to the IT, technology, or critical infrastructure sectors.
- Familiarity with marketing technology systems used at Vertiv, including Wrike, Optimizely (Episerver), and Oracle Eloqua.
