We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Software Architecture to help shape the future-state architecture of our various SaaS platforms and systems.
Position Summary:
Veson is seeking a dynamic and experienced VP of Software Architecture to define and expand our target architecture as we enter into our next phase of growth.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the VP of Software Architecture will be responsible for the overall architectural vision of our various SaaS platforms, and institute governance mechanisms to ensure that engineers are building software in a scalable, reliable and secure manner.
The VP of Software Architecture will chair our existing Architecture Review Board (ARB), a forum where critical design decisions and technology policies are formed. The ideal candidate will build upon the strengths of the existing architecture team, by adding structure and process within a highly creative, and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader, with extremely strong technical knowledge and past experience building systems that support tens of thousands of users.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain the overall software architecture strategy
• Chair the Architecture Review Board (ARB), set the agenda, and drive the decision-making process
• Lead and mentor the existing software architecture team
• Institute governance mechanisms to ensure software is being built in line with internal standards
• Work with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure system designs are appropriate prior to implementation
• Become the internal thought leader at Veson on matters regarding scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, interoperability, language choices and technology choices
• Work in concert with Veson’s cybersecurity team to ensure all software is being built in a secure manner
• Oversee complex system and software platform integrations, driven by M&A activity
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
• 10 years of progressive software leadership experience, with a strong background in the design and implementation of complex systems
• Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale, distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Expertise in multiple programming languages and frameworks
• Experience with microservices architecture and API design
• Proficiency in data modeling and database design (SQL and NoSQL)
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strategic mindset with a passion for leveraging technology to create value, and support the growth of SAAS offerings
