Sojourn Suites PDX is currently seeing a Front Office Manager to join our growing team!
As Front Office Manager you are the direct supervisor of all front desk staff and you will ensure proper completion of front desk duties. You will also be responsible for completing front desk duties at time such as reservations, directing, coordinating front desk activities, guest services, and monitoring the telephone, night audit support, coordinating maintenance, working with and assisting in housekeeping and laundry. You will also prepare Front Desk and Night Audit schedules, order needed supplies, complete payroll, accounting, manage revenue, group bookings, cover sick calls and accounts receivable.

Wednesday 2p - 11p, Thursday 2p - 11p, Friday 12p -9p, Sat 12p - 9p, Sunday 12p - 9p, Monday Off, Tuesday Off.

Responsibilities
- Anticipates and intervenes in all instances of guest dissatisfaction with hotel policy
- Maximizes room revenue and occupancy by consistently reviewing status
- Ensures financial performance of the front desk department
- Perform all check-in and check-out tasks
- Manage online and phone reservations
- Inform customers about payment methods and verify their credit card data
- Register guests collecting necessary information (like contact details and exact dates of their stay)
- Welcome guests upon their arrival and assign rooms
- Assist in collection efforts
- Work with housekeeping on daily room assignments

- Respond to clients’ complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Liaise with our housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully-furnished to accommodate guests’ needs
- Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized services for VIP customers and event attendees, like wedding guests
- Upsell additional facilities and services, when appropriate
- Trains new front desk department personnel.
- Analyzes rate variance, monitors credit report and maintains close observation of daily house count
- Knows all safety and understands emergency procedures and how to act upon them. Understands accident prevention policies.
- Reviews and completes credit limit report.
- Works within the allocated budget for the front desk.
- Good understanding about the Property management software (PMS).
- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
- Maintain updated records of bookings and payments
Qualifications
- A.A. associate degree or 2 years in related experience or field
- Must have basic mathematical skills ie. applying basics of geometry and algebra and basic computer skills
- Ability to apply common sense, empathy and understanding to carry out instructions and provide delegation to staff
- Customer service experience
- Previous hotel experience preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
