Shipping Clerk
Vestil Manufacturing, a fourth-generation family-owned business and a prominent figure in material handling equipment production, is currently looking for a meticulous Shipping Clerk to join our team. As a Shipping Clerk at Vestil, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of goods within our warehouse operations.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Prep Paperwork: Complete work orders with weights, dimensions, and initial when completed.
- Weigh Product: Use a scale to weigh products.
- Packaging Product: Package products per customer specifications, including boxing, using tape machine, stacking, and labeling.
- Relate Size to Packaging Space: Ensure the product fits appropriately within the packaging space.
- Load UPS Truck: Assist in manually loading the UPS truck.
- Maintain Supply Inventory: Keep track of and replenish shipping supplies.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the shipping department clean and organized.
- Prepare and Inspect Products: Ensure products meet quality standards before shipping.
- Operate Equipment: Use forklifts and pallet jacks, adhering to safety guidelines.
- Multitasking: Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and workload demands.
- Safety and Quality: Uphold company core values and maintain strict attention to safety and quality standards.
Skills/Knowledge
- Warehouse Experience: Proven experience in a warehouse setting.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Warehouse Data System: Adequate knowledge of warehouse data systems.
- Team Player: Organizational skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift or move heavy products regularly (up to 50 lbs), bend, twist, and squat repetitively throughout the workday.
- Basic Skills: Basic computer and math skills.
- Language Proficiency: Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Sensory Ability: See and hear within reasonably acceptable limits, including distance and peripheral vision.
- Time Management: Use time management skills and prioritization to accomplish daily tasks.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work unsupervised for much of the day.
- Assembly Skills: Use hand tools and power tools (e.g., bander, ratchets, rivet gun, hammer, tape measure) for some assembly tasks.
- Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older.
