Who Are We Looking For?
The Engineering team is seeking an experienced Scala Engineer with 7 years of experience, who can be effective on all levels of our application stack, and is willing to participate in all development activities such as implementation, design, test and code reviews.
You're a great fit for our team if you can balance detail-oriented tasks with long term strategy and scale initiatives. Most of all, you must be passionate about what you create and about the impact it can have. That matters to us, a lot.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Collaborate closely with other Engineers, Architects and the rest of the Vestwell team to build new services and features
- Create and own Architecture diagrams and designs
- Work with both Engineering and Product teams to drive solution design
- Build REST APIs and services
- Participate in peer code reviews
- Provide production support and train the junior engineers
- Own entire features from a technology perspective

The expected salary range for this position is $165K-180K for New York, $156,750K-171K for Austin, and $148,500K-162K for Phoenix

It starts the same for every candidate : getting to know the team members through 1 - 2 conversations about Vestwell, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but the usual next steps are a skill or experience screen (e.g. a coding interview for an Engineer, a portfolio review for a Designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in-person interview panel after that if the screens go well. Before making an offer, our interview process concludes with a references check stage for your recruiter to meet with a current or former supervisor and peer.
