Purpose :
Safety is at the forefront of everything that we do. We hold the safety of our employees, visitors, and contractors to the highest standards possible. The Safety Co-op role provides a learning experience in a manufacturing setting for students' related field of undergraduate or graduate study. Internships with a safety focus would support activities pertaining to Vesuvius Penn's safety and health programs to ensure compliance with both OSHA requirements as well as Vesuvius Standards.
Key responsibilities :
- Provide administrative support for the safety and health program
- Participate in daily management walkthroughs, identifying hazards and developing corrective actions
- Assist with conducting risk assessments, ergonomic assessments, machine safety assessments, and exposure measurements
- Participate in safety committee activities
- Aid with internal safety audits and support for safety inspections
- Assist in the development and deployment of health and safety programs on site
- Assist with environmental and sustainability compliance initiatives
- With supervisory oversight, develop and deliver safety training
