This role requires managing a unionized workforce while ensuring production goals, safety, and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Operations Management:
- Supervise daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency targets are met.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, downtime, scrap rates, and efficiency.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, quality, and logistics, to resolve production challenges.
- Ensure proper utilization of equipment, materials, and labor to maximize productivity.
- Lead and motivate a team of production employees, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Effectively manage a unionized workforce, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
- Address performance issues, provide coaching and feedback, and assist with employee development.
- Maintain positive labor relations by promoting open communication and problem-solving.
- Support and drive lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.
- Participate in problem-solving activities, using root cause analysis to address recurring production issues.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety regulations.
- Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring all employees follow proper procedures and PPE requirements.
- Conduct safety training and audits to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Production Supervisor or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization.
- Experience working in a unionized facility and understanding labor relations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
- Proficiency in using manufacturing software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
