Summary The Electrician Leader reports directly to the shop Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, Maintenance & Operations, informs electrical tradesmen of instructions received from the Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, leads, oversees and trains (4) Electricians WG-2805-10's in the nonsupervisory daily work of the electrical trade occupation. Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to : Performs quality control inspections to make certain the highest excellence of work is being performed. Carries out a wide range of personnel management responsibilities such as; assisting Section Supervisor with selection of employees, preparation of position descriptions and performance standards, conducting employee performance reviews and preparing documentation for incentive awards. Makes work assignments and revises work schedules to meet changes in workload considering factors such as peak loads, availability of manpower, and processing time requirements. Installs, modifies, repairs, troubleshoots and tests complex electrical systems, circuits, equipment, appliances, controls, components, lighting fixtures and fire alarm systems. Troubleshoots, tests, and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment. Determines location of existing electrical devices and service entrances, traces hard to locate defects or problems. Uses and maintain electrical hand tools. Uses and maintains electrical test equipment. Uses and maintains power tools used in electrical work. Precisely arranges and installs electrical systems and bends conduit to insure proper and safe operation. Precisely arranges and installs electrical equipment to insure proper and safe operation. Uses trade formulas to calculate common properties. Arranges, installs, and insures the proper and safe operations of electrical systems and equipment. Installs, modifies, repairs and maintains electrical lines, circuits, conduits, cable trays and associated fixtures, controls and equipment. Determines and places distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections. Uses electrical drawings to determine location of electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm systems. Uses electrical drawings to determine and place distribution panels. Uses electrical drawings to lay out routing and placement of electrical lines and conduits. Understands the theory and use of instruments used in the electrical trade. Interprets and applies building plans and engineering drawings. Interprets, applies and keeps up with changes to the National Electrical Code. Physical effort is often strenuous and is typical of industrial construction trades. Working Conditions : Work is performed inside and outside (heat, cold, under and outside of buildings). Installation, inspections, and repairs are made under dirty, noisy and odor producing conditions. He / She is frequently exposed to the danger of strains, cuts, bruises, burns and infections.
