This position is located within the Textile Care Processing Facility of the Environmental Management Services Division within Veterans Healthcare System of the Ozarks, Fayetteville, Arkansas. This position is under the direct supervision of the Textile Care Manager, or designee, and performs the primary work involving soiled textiles and apparel.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Responsibilities:
Major duties of this position include but are not limited to:- Assist in unloading soiled linen bags from the soiled linen truck.
- Sort soiled linen items according to classification procedures.
- Operate small piece folders and flatwork, ironer.
- Shake out articles of wet linen items checking for knots, damage, and stained items; feed damp pieces of linen into flatwork ironers using a spreading-feeding device, or by handfeeding directly into the ironer.
- Clean and Wax the flatwork ironer and for replacing ribbons.
- Feed garment and apparel through spreader feeder and fold rough dry items by hand.
- Load clean textiles in bulk carts and prepare clean textiles for shipment.
- Responsible for linen distribution.
- Delivers linen carts to wards/clinics/O.R., etc.
- Perform housekeeping duties: sweeping, mopping, dusting, etc. to keep the laundry and other areas assigned in a clean, sanitary condition.

Physical Requirements: Laundry Worker will be exposed to repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands and is required to perform simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, reaching outward and above the shoulder, lift soiled linen bags up and onto soiled linen carts and frequent stooping, bending, twisting and kneeling, standing, walking, sitting. Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds, stand and walk consistently, perform light to moderate bending and stooping, and able to wear PPE for extended period of time as dictated by the work setting. Loading, unloading, and transporting clean and soiled linen carts weighing up to 700 pounds.
