Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team at our specialty dentistry and oral surgery veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to provide high-quality support in a veterinary setting. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting veterinarians with surgical procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during out-patient appointments as well as surgical procedures
- Perform routine laboratory tests, intra-oral radiographs, dental cleanings
- Disepense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Admit and discharge surgical patients
- Monitor patients pre-op, intra-op and post-op
- Conduct follow-up phone calls to clients after surgery to check on patients and offer advice as needed
- Provide proper animal restraint during examinations and procedures
- Create and maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Educate pet owners on common oral diseases, overall oral health, home care and post-operative care
- Ensure cleanliness of the equipment and practice
- Participate in animal husbandry practices to promote health and well-being including walking patients to eliminate
- Clean, sharpen and sterilize instruments
- Restock medical supplies
- Willingness to learn about specialty level oral health
Requirements
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician in the State of Massachusetts or have fulfilled requirements to sit for VTNE
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is necessary
- Must be a people person
- Strong attention to detail
- Team player
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is crucial.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary oral care and procedures.
- Able to work 7:30am to 6pm four days a week. Will also be assigned one night to work until close, once full trained. Closing times vary depending on how the surgery schedule for the day progresses. Weekly schedule to be determined but will not include weekends or overnights
