Description

Ferguson Animal Hospital is looking to hire a veterinary assistant to join our team. This is a full-time position. Compensation for this role is a $15- $17 / hour based on experience with opportunities for overtime. Responsibilities

Patient Care : Assist in the care and treatment of animals, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
Clinical Procedures : Perform diagnostic tests (blood work, urine analysis, X-rays), assist in surgeries, and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
Medical Recordkeeping : Maintain accurate and updated medical records.
Client Communication : Educate pet owners on animal care, health conditions, and post-operative care instructions.
Pharmacy : Prepare and dispense medications, ensuring proper dosage and administration instructions.
Animal Restraint : Safely and gently restrain animals during procedures and exams to ensure safety for both the animal and the veterinary team.

Paid Holidays : 6 Paid Holidays (Eligible on 1st day)

Paid Time Off : 40 hours first year (accrued)

Health Insurance : (medical, dental, vision) : Single and Family, 1st of the month after 60 days of employment

Supplemental Insurance : (e.g. life insurance, critical illness, etc.) 1st of the month after 60 days of employment

401k : 1st of the month following hire date (21 or older), match after 1 year if minimum hours worked are met / maintained

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Veterinary experience preferred, but not required

Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs frequently

Ability to walk, stand, and bend for sustained periods

Ability to use hand and arms to handle and position animals, materials, equipment
