Position Summary: Big Lick Veterinary Services in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking a Client Service Representative/Receptionist to join our team. This is a full-time position. Compensation for this role is based on experience with pay starting at $14/hr-$15/hr. Hour of Operation: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm


Generous Benefits Package for Full-Time Employees:

-Scrub Allowance: Eligible on 1st day

-Paid Holidays: 6 Paid Holidays (Eligible on 1st day)

-Paid Time Off: 40 hours first year (accrued)

-Health Insurance: (medical, dental, vision): Single and Family, 1st of the month after 60 days of employment

-Supplemental Insurance:(e.g. life insurance, critical illness, etc.) 1st of the month after 60 days of employment

-401k: 1st of the month following hire date (21 or older), match after 1 year if minimum hours worked are met/maintained

Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:
-Greet clients with a smile and direct eye contact immediately upon them entering the lobby. As a receptionist, you are the first face clients see when they come through the door and the last face clients see when they leave. You are the first and last impression clients have of our hospital and it’s important that you positively represent our business and staff.
-Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets and other teammates.
-Answer phones in a prompt, professional, and friendly manner, managing a busy multi-line phone system and directing calls where needed.
-Receive and make calls, e-mails, and text messages to clients for the purpose of scheduling.
-Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
-Maintain proper documentation through client and patient records, i.e. referral documentation, previous medical history received, etc.
-Assist all clients by providing necessary instructions, information and invoices, dispense prescription items per the veterinarian’s instructions, and schedule all future appointments.
-Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
-Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through collection of client transactions, following all cash and credit card handling procedures, and following proper opening and closing procedures.
-Excellent customer service skills and an exceptional level of communication in a professional manner.
-Advocate for pets through client education on preventative care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations and all other hospital services/procedures.
-Demonstrate ability to show empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.
-Maintain cleanliness, tidiness and organization of lobby and reception areas.
-Assist with receiving, unpacking and stocking orders.
-Utilize standard office/business equipment.
-Work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

Requirements

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience: Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred), Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)

Availability: Monday through Friday 7:00am-6:00pm (Required)

Additional Requirements: Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs frequently, ability to walk, stand, and bend for sustained periods, and ability to use hand and arms to handle and position animals, materials, equipment
