Position Summary
The QA specialist position is responsible for ensuring products are tested and meet customer quality expectations. This role is critical to the success of our quality function and provides a technical opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and leadership in a lab environment.
The Quality Assurance Specialist is tasked with making sure that all of the products are manufactured according to the specifications requested (such as color, thickness, finish and so on).
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and non-routine analysis of products;
- Support Quality Assurance in area of fiberglass and polyester resin manufacturing;
- Prepare reference lab samples;
- Address QA issues with customers and potential customers;
- Support lab activities including but not limited to preparing certificates of analysis, samples, production scale runs, internal inspection and audits;
- Monitor, measure and report on production related issues;
- Participate in the implementation of new programs, analytical methods, instruments and/or work procedures;
- Perform additional duties as assigned;
- Make recommendations to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed;
- testing all color pastes to make sure they meet the required standards;
- testing the incoming batches of laminating resin and gelcoat;
- testing the mixes and adjusting them if necessary:
- researching possible alternatives to currently used products;
- It will be the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Specialist to organize and prioritize the laboratory activities. For this reason, strong computer skills are required. Daily operations include the use of Excel spreadsheets, Word files and an internal software;
- The Quality Assurance Specialist will also be responsible of reviewing claims coming from customers. Strong organizational skills are a must. This includes, but it is not limited to, reaching out to the customers and discuss possible causes and solutions, reviewing of every claim with subsequent approval or denial and filing of the documentation for future reference.
Position Qualifications
- College degree or related experience in chemistry, coloring or composite engineering;
- Or 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing lab using instruments like viscosimeter, dynamometer, spectrophotometer;
- Strong analytical ability and understanding of physic principles such as gravity, density, fluid dynamic etc.;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrated result oriented approach;
- Efficient time management and task prioritization;
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
