Duties and Responsibilities
- Responds to assigned calls for service involving traffic problems, parking issues, and other traffic concerns.
- Conducts preliminary and follow-up investigations of traffic collisions (excluding collisions resulting in personal injury).
- Interviews persons having potential knowledge or information concerning investigations being conducted.
- Collects, packages, and preserves physical evidence and found property of investigations.
- Prepares written reports and field notes of investigations.
- Testifies in court concerning investigations.
- Provides traffic control at the scene of fires, disorders, demonstrations, natural disasters, and related incidents to ensure public safety and the efficient delivery of emergency services.
- Provides traffic management.
- Assists victims of traffic accidents.
- Performs rudimentary first aid as required.
- Performs community service functions, including Community Relations presentations.
- Provides the public with information on ordinances, regulations, and police services.
- Enforces parking control ordinances.
- Performs special assignments as directed.
- Be capable of working rotating shifts.
- Operates a vehicle during both the day and night under a variety of conditions.
