VG Donut & Bakery located in Cardiff-by-the-Sea is hiring FULL-TIME (36 hours) bakery salesclerks to handle customer service, cashiering and other commercial bakery duties. Applicants must have a flexible schedule, including early morning and afternoon shifts, and must be available both Saturday and Sunday.

Job responsibilities include:

• Perform customer service tasks and other duties as needed
• Proactively assist customers while providing exceptional, prompt and friendly service
• Deliver an excellent customer experience every time
• Take customer orders and handle transactions efficiently and professionally
• Greet and welcome in-person customers and answer phones
• Maintain a thorough understanding of VG menu, products and capabilities and liaise with baking and decorator staff on design feasibility and production requirements
• Maintain neat presentation and set-up of bakery cases, keep cases clean and full of product throughout shift
• Maintain open communication and cooperation with other front of the house staff
• Assist baking staff with the production and packaging of special orders
• Slice, wrap, package, label, price and rotate product
• Fill and clean trays, racks, screens, displays and shelves
• Organize and restock workstation supplies
• Maintain quality food handling standards
• Perform and maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including tables, floors, walls, cases, patio, etc.

Job requirements:

• Two years experience in a customer service environment preferred
• Previous food service experience in hospitality or food and beverage industry a plus
• Must be able to speak, read and write English
• Reliable and punctual with regular attendance
• Physical requirements include, frequent walking, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching overhead and ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds
• Maintain clean and neat appearance in compliance with our dress code policy
• You must have legal working status in the U.S.

• Base pay $16 - $18 per hour PLUS earned tips (averages $3-$5 per hour)
