ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB is looking for a talented Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our team and support projects throughout Vermont.
Please note: our office will be relocating from South Burlington to Winooski in April 2025.
Responsibilities
- Field data collection (soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil gas sampling) to support site assessments
- Observe and document construction and remediation activities for compliance with approved plans
- Observe and document drilling activities (soil borings and monitoring well installation)
- Leveraging technology to support data management and visualization
- Assist with writing technical reports, correspondence, notes and memoranda
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to work in field and office settings
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including directing and managing subcontractors
- Motivated, with strong ability to problem solve and work independently
- ArcGIS experience/coursework preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- 0-1 years of environmental consulting experience required
- 1-3 years of environmental consulting experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel to a location, walk/hike and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and ability to carry equipment and supplies
- OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required after 30 days of employment (cost covered by VHB)
