VHBs Maine team is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support our land development projects. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a growing team of civil engineers in southern Maine managing the design of ski resort improvements, national park projects, local urban re-development projects, transit-oriented development, and federal, state, and local (City / Town) projects throughout Maine. Our Maine Land Development team is looking for a Project Manager that is passionate about contributing to and leading the delivery of these fun and unique projects. Responsibilities
- Manages, plans, develops, organizes, and implements engineering projects. Explores subject area, defines scope, selects areas for investigation, and develops novel concepts.
- Prepares proposals and / or contracts. Participates in project decisions regarding technical approach, costs, and scheduling.
- Directs and mentors team members in the development of proposals, plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, and related documents.
- Performs project reviews and quality control audits to measure the quality level of the project deliverables to industry standard specifications and zoning / regulatory requirements. Investigates any quality problems that lead to project changes and modifies project plans as needed.
- Establishes and monitors budgets to assess profitability. Monitors project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule.
- Researches problem areas of significant scope and complexity. Applies extensive knowledge to develop solutions. Is accountable for the resolution of challenging technical problems that substantially affect major projects.
- Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside VHB with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to civil engineering projects. Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability.
- Represents VHB at meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish needs and discuss design / permitting issues.
- Responsible for client relationships, visibility, and business development.
- May supervise, plan, schedule, and coordinate the work of junior employees. Provides direction and guidance to technical team members and reviews their work for accuracy.

- Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.
