Senior Credentialing Specialist - Medical Staff Office

Job Description

Purpose & Scope:

The Senior Credentialing Specialist will oversee and coordinate the credentialing process within the Medical Staff Office, reporting directly to the Director of the Medical Staff Office. This role will involve managing and mentoring a team of Credentialing Specialists, ensuring the efficient processing of initial applications and interim privileges, and maintaining effective communication between medical staff committees, departments, and hospital services. The Lead Credentialing Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring that the credentialing process meets regulatory standards and supports high-quality service to practitioners and hospital staff.  

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of credentialing experience in a medical staff office setting. Alternatively, a combination of 5 years of relevant experience in healthcare administration or secretarial roles with a strong focus on credentialing may be considered.

Certification/Licensure:

None.

The Lead Credentialing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the credentialing process is efficient, compliant, and supportive of high-quality healthcare delivery. This position requires a dedicated individual with a strong background in credentialing and leadership capabilities.
