Duties & Responsibilities :

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team developing cutting edge test products for the latest fixed and wireless communication systems. You will be working on the mechanical development of components and sub-systems from concept through to release for manufacture, including supporting products in manufacture. Main components typically include sheet metal housings, CNC machined shielding, custom cables, labels, PCB assemblies and fittings.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a contributor and where necessary the sole Mechanical Engineer, as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Takes responsibility for the mechanical development of components, subsystems and systems ensuring designs are robust, fully documented, prototyped, tested and successfully introduced into production within the specified time scales.
Ensure all designs are supported by theoretical calculations, thermal and stress analysis results, reviews and prototypes where appropriate.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements :

Your skills and qualifications will ideally include :

Bachelor's Degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related subject covering Mechanical Engineering and Design

Good working knowledge of FLOEFD or similar MCAD thermal simulation package

Good working knowledge of CREO and / or Solidworks or any similar MCAD package including stress analysis.

Tolerance stack-up analysis to meet the dimensional objectives of the design.

Designing and producing manufacturing drawings using GD&T techniques. (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)

Familiar with 3D printing and additive manufacturing for prototyping

Understanding of the product development process, from concept to launch

Aptitude to learn and apply tools to ensure designs are robust, reliable and optimized for production

Ability to assess and identify the most cost-effective solution in all design work

Accustomed to following the principles of good Engineering practice with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Self-motivated with the ability to work in a pressurized environment with minimum supervision

Strong collaboration and team working skills, including cross-functionally, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships across all level

Ability to influence senior stakeholders

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

The ability to work within multiple and / or complex projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment

Ability to mentor and coach the same or junior levels

Ability to solve complex issues using in-depth evaluation methods and techniques

Contributes to strategic decision-making
