GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance in all dining service functions as directed/instructed by the Consultant Dietitian/Diet Technician/Health Center Supervisor. The duties will be performed in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and Vicar's Landing policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve meals that are palatable, appetizing in appearance and in accordance with standardized recipes, portion control, time schedules and sanitation standards. May assist cooks and/or in other food preparation and service areas as required. Set up trays, food carts, dining room, etc. as instructed. Work tray line in assigned stations. Assemble production of foods as per tally sheets. This duty is performed about 40% of the time.
2. Assist in maintaining the Dining Services department in a safe sanitary manner. Use proper procedures to serve, clear, clean, and reset tables for Health Center Dining rooms. Transport soiled dishes, flatware, linen, utensils, glassware etc. from dining rooms to dish machine area/kitchen. Keep the Health Center Dining Rooms, pantries, refrigerators and equipment clean and orderly. Perform daily or scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures. This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
3. Distribute and collect menus as directed. Deliver nourishments to assigned nursing stations. Participate in programs designed for In Service education, on the job training and orientation for newly assigned department personnel. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
4. Obey all safety and sanitation guidelines set up by Dining Services Department, Vicar's Landing as well as Federal, State and local laws including personal hygiene and adherence to dress code. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
5. Report to work as scheduled. This duty is performed about 15% of the time.
6. Perform any other duties directed by your supervisor or any other member of management staff. This duty is performed about 5% of the time.
7. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; Ability to write and speak simple sentences as a means for basic communication. Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.

Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
