JOB SUMMARY
The Wait Staff employee is responsible for table service in the community dining room. The employee is responsible for following established policies and procedures regarding food service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- 35% Takes orders, provides service, and requested items both graciously and courteously. Assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests.
- 15% Abides by all established community policies, procedures, and rules, including attendance.
- 10% Maintains established standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness. Always in appropriate uniforms.
- 5% Attends in-service training and educational seminars as assigned.
- 5% Maintains safe and sanitary conditions of work areas for employees as well as Members.
- Non-essential job functions:
- 10% Responsible for setting tables and maintaining workstations according to Vicar's Landing policies and procedures. Keeps pace with responsibilities to avoid interference with member’s services.
- Wait Staff
- 10% Communicates effectively any/all menu selections, specials, and requests.
- 5% Completes all assigned side work filling salt and pepper shakers, sugar container, cleaning and replacing stock in a timely manner.
- 5% Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
- Ability to read, write and speak English, perform simple arithmetic, and follow oral instructions in English.
- Ability to interpret and explain the menu, answer, or refer questions, coordinate the meal service process, and respond to requests.
- Must be able to bend and pick up items from the floor, reach above head to remove items from shelf.
- Ability to work in close cooperation with Members, guests and staff with courtesy, tact, and graciousness.
- Must possess fundamental understanding of hospitality, customer service, table service technique, personal hygiene, and professional appearance.
- Must be at least 16 years of age to work during school hours.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk hear, and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Standing and walking is a minimum of 90% of their shift hours. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be able to work at heights. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus as well as work on a computer for extended periods of time. Works in potentially hazardous conditions such that may be subject to falls, cuts, burns from equipment, hot foods, odors, chemicals etc. throughout the day. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with other people on the phone or in person.
