What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cheif Estimator position at Vicon Construction LLC?
The primary function of the Chief Concrete Estimator is to lead the estimating department and provide accurate bid proposals and scope analysis for potential construction projects.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- To lead the estimating team to provide accurate bid proposals and scope analysis for potential construction projects.
- Overseeing all project takeoffs, the plan to execute the project, the material quotes, project bid and the project proposal. Take the lead on bidding targeted projects for the company.
- Route estimating assignments accordingly to keep an even workflow throughout the estimating team.
- Attend bid/scope reviews with the project estimator and client when necessary.
- Attend all meetings with new clients or potential new clients.
- Attend final buyout meetings on all new projects.
- Collaborate with our CFO and the rest of the executive team to help develop and maintain standard estimating methods that will tie into the accounting system. This will help track bids, build budgets and let us see "real time" cost of the projects.
- Facilitate and assist in recruitment of estimators and interns.
- Create and implement a training/onboarding program for new estimators.
- Responsible for the morale and internal team relations.
- Work with the rest of the executive team to determine the strategy in each individual market that we currently work within.
- Develop a market share to collaborate with the rest of the executive team in development of a market strategy.
- This would include current markets and analyzing over saturation.
- This would include new markets that may have high potential.
- Develop new clients that correlate to the overall strategic plan and vision for the company.
- Develop relationships with our current customer base and key stakeholders.
- Work hand in hand with the Director of Operations to understand and promote consistency of field operations.
- When needed, assist estimators or PMs pricing change orders on existing contracts.
- Attend job handoff meetings from the estimating team to the PM team.
- Exercise good judgment and experience in working with purchasing, concrete labor, equipment, and transportation costs to arrive at full cost estimate with appropriate profit margins to achieve company's goals.
- Incorporates safety in the means and methods decision making during the estimating phase.
- Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in concrete estimating, to include tilt-up.
- Ability to read and understand project specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe, Microsoft Office.
