OPEN: POSITION: Director, TransportationSITE: Transportation ServicesDAYS: 261HOURS: TBDSALARY: Range 31M ($114,620.76 - $139,661.10/Annually)* Additional compensation will be considered based on the number of years of experience in a supervisory position*FILING DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2025, @ 4:00 P.M.Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent B Business Services, plan, organize, coordinate and direct the District=s Transportation Services Program; supervise, counsel, train and evaluate assigned personnel; serve as liaison and provide assistance to District officials, staff, guests and public service agencies as appropriate.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: a Bachelor's Degree in business, transportation management, public administration, or related field and five years increasingly responsible experience in school transportation. A Bachelor's Degree is highly desirable.**** MUST UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH YOUR APPLICATION****A valid CA Driver's License is needed within the first 6 months of employment. Until then, candidates could possibly qualify with an out-of-state license.

KNOWLEDGE OF: ?Principles and practices of directing a school transportation department.?Applicable sections of State Education code and other applicable laws and regulations.?Principles and practices of administration, supervision, discipline, and training.?Operation of school buses.?Technical aspects of transportation fields.?District organization, operations, policies and objectives.?Health and safety regulations.?Oral and written communication skills.?Traffic accident investigation techniques.?Crisis intervention techniques.?Report writing and record keeping techniques.?Operation of a computer and a variety of software programs on LAN and WAN.?Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.?Budget preparation, control and revenue/expenditure projections.?Appropriate safety precautions and procedures.ABILITY TO: ?Plan, organize and direct transportation services..?Develop and implement operating rules, regulations, procedures, policies, and guidelines.?Train, supervise, evaluate and discipline personnel.?Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.?Prepare and monitor assigned budgets.?Estimate the cost and use of supplies and equipment.?Read, interpret, apply and explain laws, regulations, policies, procedures, rules and guidelines.?Operate District vehicles.?Operate a PC computer on a LAN regarding school bus routing, scheduling, and vehicle maintenance programs.?Plan and organize work.?Meet schedules and timelines.?Work cooperatively with city, county, and state and federal law enforcement agencies.?Prepare clear, concise and comprehensive incident and statistical reports.?Work independently with little direction.?Establish and maintain timelines.?Work confidentially with discretion.?Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.?Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
