Position Summary

The Division of Student Services is seeking a Full Time Testing Specialist II. The Testing Specialist II assists in the coordination and administration of the testing and assessment programs at The Victoria College. They Ensures proper policies and procedures are followed in the administration of tests.


This position is benefits eligible.

Duties & Responsibilities

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Administers the ACT, SAT, and TSI testing programs; assists with the hiring and training of personnel and overall administration of tests; responsible for ordering, receiving, administering, scoring, and returning all residual ACT materials.
  • Administers the GED testing program; serves as a Test Examiner; assists in ensuring that Victoria College complies with GED testing standards set by the American Council on Education including specialized testing for students with disabilities for both on - and - off campus testing and for inmates incarcerated at the Victoria County Jail system.
  • Assists with administering the CLEP testing program; assists with ensuring that Victoria College complies with CLEP testing standards set by the Educational Testing Service; keep faculty abreast of test changes affecting the credit by examination program.
  • Administers the TSI and other local assessment programs; establish schedules for testing.
  • Administers Correspondence exams; responsible for receiving, storing, administering and mailing exams; responsible for complying with corresponding university/college testing standards so as to ensure validity of test.
  • Administers departmental credit by examinations; responsible for receiving, storing, administering, and returning exams.
  • Assists in monitoring adapted tests for students with disabilities.
  • Administers Virtual Colleges of Texas exams; responsible for scheduling, receiving, storing, administering, and returning exams to appropriate colleges and/or universities.
  • Assists with administering exams for Victoria College instructors as scheduled; assist with scheduling, receiving, storing, administering, and securing exams for instructors.
  • Develops annual goals, objectives, and assessment methods for all areas of responsibility; assists in preparation of annual budget based upon goals and objectives.
  • Supervise student workers as appropriate.
  • Attends conferences to keep abreast of current testing standards and requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring test updates are downloaded to all computers and to other technical equipment.
  • Administers and schedules all specialized tests such as DSST, TCOLE, and Castle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Testing & Tutoring Coordinator and the Director of Advising and Counseling.

Qualifications



  • Associate Degree required or 3 years of work-related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Bachelors preferred
  • Experience administering standardized exams required
  • Experience in Higher Education is preferred.
  • Must have effective interpersonal, oral, and written skills,
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel highly desirable.
  • Must be available to work some Saturdays and evenings.
  • Must have a valid driver license as some travel is required

Physical Demands

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds while loading office supplies, paper and test packets. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


The following benefits apply to all full-time positions scheduled to work 30 hours or more each week. These full-time positions are also eligible to participate in our TRS retirement plan.

Participation in the Teacher Retirement System is mandatory (ORP option for eligible employees)
  • Currently, the employee contribution is 8.25%. The state and Victoria College, together, contribute 8.25%
  • Social security is deducted each pay period
  • Payroll deduction for 403-b and 457 deferred compensation plans are available
