Primary Purpose:
Ensure efficient operation of the College Centers and provide clerical services for PreCollege Advisory
Qualifications Guidelines:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
Two to four years of community college experience (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficient skills in excel, keyboarding, word processing and file maintenance
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of testing and admissions requirements for colleges/universities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; audiovisual equipment
Posture: Prolonged walking/standing/bending/stooping, pushing/pulling/kneeling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (not to exceed 40 pounds)

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Records, Reports and Correspondence
1. Provide assistance with college preparation and the admissions process.
2. Process student records and registration for dual credit enrollment.
3. Assist with the preparation of reports and student data information.
4. Maintain a calendar and schedule appointments for the CARS advisor.
5. Reconcile student transcript with current schedule to verify correct dual credit course enrollment.
6. Assist with the dual credit course selection process.
7. Promote events to parents and students.
8. Distribute post-secondary information.
9. Provide assistance with scholarships and financial aid applications.
10. Assist pre-college staff with dual credit recruitment, retention, and enrollment.
11. Increase student's overall college awareness, readiness, and potential success.
12. Compile and distribute scholarship applications and newsletters.
13. Maintain the website, brochure racks, bulletin boards and other information areas.
14. Research scholarship opportunities for students. Other:
15. Visit senior classes monthly to provide timely information.
16. Schedule college/career speakers.
I 7. Assist in coordinating the VISD Scholarship Ceremony
18. Complete assigned responsibilities for special projects such as scheduling rooms, compiling information packets and creating spreadsheets, charts and graphs.
