TDC Education Support Specialist

SUMMARY
The Tulsa Dream Center Education Program, is a place for children from all backgrounds to play, socialize, learn and grow. The Tulsa Dream Center Education Support Specialist assists the Academic teachers in a variety of functions, including observing, supervising, guiding and directing children. Additionally, assisting with organizational duties, and optimizing a safe and nurturing environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helps to ensure the safety and welfare of the children and protects each from physical or emotional harm. This includes performing all tasks with an appropriate level of confidentiality.
- Provides an environment where everyone can have a positive experience throughout the day.
- Treats all children, families, and staff members with dignity and respect, and allow for individual differences.
- Assists the Teacher in implementing the daily curriculum, activities and supplies.
- Supervises and interacts with children at all times; mealtimes, rest periods, restroom times, and activity times.
- Helps with general housekeeping tasks.
- Maintains appropriate communication with staff, children, and families in a warm and professional manner.
- Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED (minimum).
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.

- Sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, stooping, walking, and the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child;
- Manual dexterity with the use of hands, fingers to feel objects, tools, and controls;
- Sighted with peripheral, near, and far vision;
- Hearing and speaking;
- Excellent English communication skills.
