Job Summary
The Community Health Worker (CHW) plays a vital role in bridging the gap between healthcare, education and community resources. This position involves networking with other agencies and providing information to individuals about existing educational training opportunites leading to careers in healthcare. The CHW will work closely with diverse populations, students and other community activist to improve access to occupational training and health related services.
Duties
- Educate community members about occupational training opportunities aimed at improving the healthcare workforce.
- Provide support and guidance to students and vendors regarding educational training.
- Collect data on community health trends for program development.
- Conduct public speaking engagements to raise awareness about available courses leading to careers in the healthcare industry.
- Collaborate with social workers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate instructions for students and clients.
- Maintain accurate records of student/client interactions and enrollment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with management of the daily office operations.
Requirements
- Background or experience in social work or public health is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and data collection methods.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on public speaking.
- Ability to educate diverse populations effectively about courses leading to health careers.
- Computer skills with basic office management.
- Must be able to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
